TALISKER 1750 anniversary 45.8 %

COLORE: oro
NASO: frutta, mandorla, secco, abbastanza rotondo, una punta di torba.
BOCCA: dolce, banana, agrumi, cannella, mou toffee, lievemente torbato.
FINALE: medio, piacevole, morbido

GLUGLU 2000

COLOUR: gold
NOSE: extremely fresh at first nosing, on sea air and light toffee. No punch-in-you-face smells this time, but lots cf smoothness and, dare I say,
delicacy. The peat smoke is well here but it's somewhat distant, while these coastal and 'caramelly' notes develop together. Then it gets also quite fruity, with some plum jam, quince jelly and very ripe apricots. Hints of apple skins, cider and even some white wine.Less peat and pepper, and more fruit seems to have been the motto when they composed this new Talisker that makes me think of the Caolila 18 yo OB.

PALATE: smooth, sweet and peppery (here we go) at the same time, with again these enjoyable citrusy notes (sugared lemon juice, tangerines...).
Some peat but not too much, tea, herbal tea, a little liquorice and just hints of toffee, with also some passion fruit.

FINISH: VMedium long finish, very enjoyable and with no bum whatsoever. Very, very smooth and balanced but not lacking oomph,
this one might be the feminine version of Talisker. Extremely quaffable just like that (waming, danger!)

TALISKER High Spirits 10 Y.O. 43 %

COLORE: ambra chiaro

HIGH SPIRITS

TALISKER originale 18 Y.O.45.8%

COLORE: ambra
NASO: peperoncino, spezie, frutta tropicale, floreale, frutta secca, mandorla, zenzero, ciliege sotto spirito, gran marniet.
BOCCA: alcolico, caldo, speziato e un poco piccante.
FINALE: lungo, fondi di caffè.

COLOUR: full amber
NOSE: fresh and sweet, with lots of tropical fruit at first, mixed with some peat and pepper. We're well in Taliskerland.
The first impression is that it's a little less punchy than the usual 10yo, but also mellower and subtler. Gets very fragrant after a while (rose water), orange water (orientai pastry). Hints of oak, slightly sour (cooked cider apple). A beautiful balance,.J stili. Notes of ginger aie emerge after a few minutes.

PALATE: big, bold and punchy attack - much punchier that what the nose suggested. Lots of pepper, coffee, rather tannic. Gets quite dry rather quickly, on wood, clove, smoke. Not much fruit, except some bitter orange. Gets then really peppery and smoky, with some hints of chilli.Really austere, not for beginners, l'd say. There obviously is some sherry in there, but the winey notes just can't make it through the smoke.1 really like it.
FINISH: long, on pepper and tannins

TALISKER Amoroso Finish 1991 45.8 %

COLORE: marron glacè
NASO: frutta tropicale molto matura, lieve torba, sherry, mandarino, toffee.
BOCCA: uva sultanina, molto tannico, dolce, pomodoro maturo, liquirizia morbida, vaniglia.
FINALE: cacao fondente, vaniglia, terra e torba

GLUGLU 2000

COLOUR: marron glacè
NOSE: sherry notes, that develops in salty, freshly and grassy ones.
PALATE: crisp peat at first then softens to enormous richness in the mouth. There's sweet, roasty malt with a heathery dryness.
The sherry notes keep back some of Talisker's usual pepper. In its piace is luscious, slightly oily sweetness - with ripe, juicy fruit and vanilla.

FINISH: some very deep cocoa notes, vanilla and lingering quite earthy peat. An enormously chewable single malt,
with sweetness having the edge on dryness Diageo

TALISKER Cask Strength 20 Y.O. 58.8 %

COLORE: paglia
NASO: erica, floreale, frutta cotta (in particolare mele cotogne) spezie dolci, elegante di spiccata finezza.
BOCCA: alcolico (abbastanza aggressivo) caldo, vaniglia, liquirizia non particolarmente dolce, lampone, quinqina.
FINALE: lungo, legno, pepe.

GLUGLU 2000

COLOUR: dark straw (lighter than the 18 yo - maybe less caramel).
NOSE: much less mellow than the 18yo, and less expressive too.Somewhat austere. Woody., smoky and peppery.
Gets grassy - freshly cut hay, fern.Develops on vanilla stlck and pepper. Beer, apple skln. A bold and 'peppery' peat then takes control.
A very nice nose, even if not really explosive. Notes of apple compote emerging after a few minutes.

PALATE: bagain, a big, bold malt. Lots of interesting medicinal aromas: camphor, propolis, tar.Develops on liquorice stick, ashes, pepper. Again, very austere, getting nicely bitter (quinquina,Campari). This one takes no prisoners, and makes almost ali Ardbegs taste sweetish.
FINISH: very long but rather elegant, again on pepper and wood.

 TALISKER Cask Strength 25 Y.O. 57.2 %

COLORE: oro
NASO: miele d'acacia, alcol de punge - gadvai, gomma bruciata, zenzero, crosta di pane, albicocca.
BOCCA: peperoncino, chilli, metallico, ricco.
FINALE: dolce/salato, speziato, vaniglia, liquirizia.

GLUGLU 2000

***

COLOUR: gold
NOSE: punchy and powerful, with some big, bold rubbery notes at first nosing, that are soon to vanish, leaving placa for a blend of cooked butter, sea water, oak sawdust and apple juica as well as butter croissants (excuse my Frenchness). It gets then more frankly mariti me as well as quite orangey and even flowery (hints of peony and iris), and keeps then improving for hours. Well,minutes... More peat (rather subtle), more'farminess', quite some quinca jelly and marzipan, herbs (chervil and bay leaf)... And always these bold buttery notes. A punchy but domesticated Talisker
PALATE: little sweeter than expected but very assertive, peaty, liquoricy and salty. Something pleasantly sweet and sour on top cf that (white wine sauca and also a little rubber again) but it's a little less complex than on the nose just now. Salty butter caramel... Gets quite dry after that and expectedly very peppery but it's quite far from being a 'monstrous' Talisker. Hints of curry, chilli sauca, thyme... And always quite some liquorice.
FINISH: Vlong, quite enveloping, salty and slightly caramelly... And, of course, peppery. Well, it's an excellent whisky, no doubt.
