all on chamomile, bananas, kiwis, butter, vanilla and smoke.
PALATE:
herb liqueurs, vanilla, wormwood, dried pear... And smoke.
FINISH:
long, closer to the regular Laphroaigs, smoky, delicately tannic.
Excellent balance but maybe a tad less thrilling than the first versions in my opinion

NOSE:
starts sort of shier than all the other ones, drier, less aromatic and curiously less 'Laphroaig'. More vanillin, white chocolate and orange
marmalade. Faint dustiness, wet newspaper, seawater... Nice nose but not a big development. Gets more almondy and liquoricy over time, though.

PALATE:
compact, sweet and peaty, somewhat like a mix of the regular 10yo with the Quarter Cask (hints of bourbon). Notes of rum. Round, soft spices (yellow curry), white pepper, liquorice and hints of dried ginger. Maybe a tad too 'rounded' and undemanding
FINISH:
rather long but gets much drier at this point, as if there was some new oak involved.

Comments: good Laphroaig, maybe a little rounder and more 'rummy' than most other official versions. Sort of aromatised? Again, it's good but I wouldn't swap one bottle of 10yo CS for two bottles of this 'friendly' version...

oh, the CS seems to have grown fruitier. Loads of strawberries, orange and chocolate, verbena (brilliant!), cherry plums.
Maybe a tad les peaty than previous versions but more globally exuberant.

PALATE:
strawcloser to previous batches now (by the way, did you know that a typical batch at Laphroaig's gathers 250 barrels @ 55 gallons?), very smoky, with lots of kumquats and hints of maraschino as well as passion fruits. A lot of zing.
FINISH:
Long, compact and perfectly balanced finish. Superb, this one reminds me of the older 'green stripe' version.

Intenso e fumoso Iodico e torboso Ampio e persistente Scontroso ed attraente                                                                    Silvano Samaroli

COLOUR:full gold
NOSE:
excuse me, but 'wow!'. Totally grand at first nosing, with astunning mix of fresh oranges and olive oil plus a touch of honeydew and a first part of development on all citrus fruits on earth (tangerines first). Then it's the smoke (peat, but also beech wood), then a fantastic minerality (flints, wet limestone), then it's back to the fruits, more like mangos and papayas this time, then the smoke again...
And finally all these coastal and medicinal elements such as seaweed, iodine, camphor and all that jazz.
And lots of fresh almond milk. An absolute stunner indeed and, I believe, an excellent example of perfect bottle ageing
(everything is fantastically mingled and I doubt it was like that when it was bottled).

PALATE:
how fabulous, this blend of citrus, wax and peat! It's smooth and delicate yet full bodied, extremely satisfying on the palate, with again tons of fruits (mangos right away now, lemon, quince, citrons.), fruity olive oil again, my beloved argan oil, mastic flavoured sweets, earl grey tea...
FINISH:
Okay, beware maltoporn, let's stop this right now but what's sure is that this is another absolute masterpiece by Signore Silvano Samaroli.
